Sheila's Talks

I have many years experience of public speaking to different types of groups, ranging from half a dozen people in a small room to over 500 in a lecture theatre. These have included groups of senior citizens, local/family historians, housewives, students, farmers and business people to name just a few.

Duration

Generally, each talk lasts for an hour but can be adjusted to fill the time available. Following the talk, I am available to answer questions. I can also adapt several of my standard talks to fill a shorter (20-30 minute) time slot.

I am also developing a series of related talks to form a short course of 5 or 6 sessions, each lasting 1-2 hours. If you may be interested in this, please ask for details.

Availability

I am available for daytime, evening and weekend bookings, including those at short notice (speaker finders please note). I am based near Hull in Yorkshire and will travel to most parts of eastern Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire. Due to the unpredictability of the English weather, I am reluctant to accept bookings involving travelling more than about 10 miles from Hull, during the winter months.

Fee

My fee for a standard 1 hour talk is £50 but is negotiable, depending on the size of the group. This includes travelling within 10 miles of Hull. Over 10 miles, there is an additional charge based on the actual mileage involved. For evening talks and/or those involving long journeys, I may require overnight accommodation.
